Decluttering and Home Organising Support

This service is focused on supporting adults with hoarding and self-neglect difficulties to organise and maintain habitable home environments.

We undertake ongoing risk assessments which we utilise to work in partnership with the client and relevant professionals to mitigate risks and to promote positive risk taking. This enables us to manage risk whilst supporting the service users to remain independent and in control of organising their home.

This support is provided over a number of sessions agreed with the service user, their representative and Care professionals. Our support does not only dwell on the issues of hoarding in isolation of other social circumstances, but we also assist with other practical tasks such as social activities, sorting mail, bills, appointment, repairs, advocacy, support with benefits and applying to charity organisations for assistance. Our interventions also aim to support Health and Social Care professionals in their care management and safeguarding duties.

Person-centred Interventions

This intervention is based on Person Centred Support to manage risks associated with hoarding difficulties. We are sensitive to the fact that most people value their belongings and find it difficult and distressing to part with them. As a result, our support is based on building a relationship with our clients, being sensitive and non-judgemental.

We empower our service users to maintain control of their lives with our role being to support, motivate and encourage them to take appropriate actions to manage risks and improve their quality of life.
